The School will continue to build on these four pillars that are core to Ministry in the Anglican Church namely:
Pillar 1: Evangelism through its Churches,
Pillar 2: Education for all through its schools, colleges and Universities,

(i) Inter-professional approach to not only nursing but overall Health education as a science. A key element in improving health care is an integrated team approach, requiring close collaboration of nurses, Clinicians, physicians and others in a patient-centered approach. One of the reasons for the proposed enhancement of the School of Nursing to train other health workforce is the existence of other academic programs that shall enhance a unique approach to Health education resulting in rich intellectual diversity.
(ii) The Scientific Method to health training. Educating nurses, clinicians, and midwives in conducting research, thinking critically, and making decisions based on evidence. Emphasis on research, excellence in pedagogy, and rigorous evaluation are essential in the preparation of Health workforce of the future and delivery of quality care to the general population.
(iii) Innovative, patient-centered technology. The interest on telemedicine and e-learning is increasing and the field of Medical practice is fairly inundated with improved technology which requires changes in training focus. Maseno Mission School of Nursing and Health Sciences will need to partner with other local/international in the application of such technologies in health care and health-care education.
(iv) Professional leadership and Management. There are at least three major dimensions of leadership that will characterize the School. The first is leadership in Health training and education, with the school transforming nursing and midwifery education. The second is the expanded offering of other middle level cadre of Health Workforce that require team work with the with Nurses and subsequent preparation of Health workers as leaders of the future, in teaching and health-care delivery as an aspect of health systems management. The third is individual leadership, as exhibited by formal and informal leaders, from executives to bedside nurses, utilizing critical thinking, communication and collaborative skills in the interest of better care in the communities they serve.
(v) Establishing clear communication channels will enable rapid dissemination of research opportunities and initiatives that will impact on healthcare. Specifically, this will involve ; Providing education and action learning for facilitation of critical thinking, research skills, evidence based practice and change management; Coordinating the dissemination of relevant information on research training opportunities, referring individuals to Trust and education programmes, relevant external opportunities, and providing targeted training, such as learning sets, where appropriate. Working with the school leadership, the Hospital Administration and the overall Nursing Council of Kenya professional leads and Organisational Development and Training Team to coordinate access to research and education opportunities for health workers, clinicians, Lab techs, Pharm techs, nurses, midwives. Working with Maseno University to identify promising students and early career researchers and provide advice and support to enable them to maximise their potential as the next generation of healthcare researchers.
